I have a yen to paint myself some Napoleonics, having bought some 20mm plastic HäT Peninsular War Brits. However, since I know practically nothing about Napoleonic stuff (except what I've read in Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels), I'd like a bit of advice.

What's a good cheap or free rule set for the period? (Preferably with army lists). I don't care about fancy production values -- Black Powder looks gorgeous, but I balk at paying a hundred bucks just for a set of rules, no matter how pretty the pictures may be.

I have a copy of Elan Deluxe; it looks OK to my untutored eye but I don't know enough to be able to make a value judgement as to its actual usefulness.

Also, can anyone point me to a decent online pictorial reference source for uniform and flag painting?

So this spell lets you use your LD stat instead of your str in combat so what happens if i cast it on my Coldone knights.
