Site upgrade

Hey all,

There were 2 updates to Drupal Core in the last 2 days.

Drupal Core is the base application that drives this website. It's well maintained and has an excellent upgrade process.

The site was updated to Drupal 6.8 about an hour ago. I've not seen any problems yet, not that I expect any.

If anyone spots anything that is broken and can be replicated please send me a message through the Contact Form. If that appears to be the source of the problem e-mail me at bugreports[at]evolved.net.nz instead.

Cheers,
Gold

New to the site?

If you're new to the website and a Cavs member please read this.

Extra Services on the site

Hey all,

I recently came across a micro-blogging system called Laconica which is the software that drives Identica. This is Free, Open Source Software and pretty much allows us to set up a local install of Twitter. The other thing that I like about this system is that it's distributed and you're able to "follow" people from any other system running Laconica. Also, the various supporting services actually work. i.e. Having posts delivered via IM and being able to post from IM.

Galleries

Does anyone have any photos from any recent events? I'm wanting to test the setup and management of galleries and figured the easiest way to do that would be by using a couple of real events.

Full Thrust Lite

Last night Chris introduced me to Full Thrust which is a starship combat game. People may have seen Chris playing it before. He's done a pretty good job modding some of the ships with LEDs where the thrusters would be. They look pretty cool.

Site announced and Contact Details

It's been about an hour since I announced the site on the forums and there's already 2 new users. :)

I've also just added a number of extra fields to the User Profiles. Address and Phone are not publically visible but are for reference for the Committee and select members that may need access to them for organising events etc. At least they should be hidden away. :)

Testing Activity

blblblahahah

Conquest 2008 done

I think the content for the Conquest 2008 section of the site is finally done.

There's a reasonable amount that needs editing, but that will happen as the umpires get details to me (or figure out how to edit things themselves ;) )

The registration form should be ready to go. Please note that it's not tested yet. If you are fine with being a beta tester feel free to fill in the form. Please note, that you may be requested to fill it in again later. I'm hoping not though.

I'll get that tested over the weekend.

Launch of the new Cavs site

The site is almost ready for launch.

I've told a few people about it and I imagine they may mention it to a few others also.

If you've stumbled across this site please feel free to register. Use what ever username you like but if you could, use the name that you are known by at the club.

Later, once a few Committee members have registered and been given the Committee role they can start picking out the users who are members and give them the Cavs role. This will open up extra content types for you and enable your blog.

Conquest Registration Form

Well, this morning was a slight disaster timewise. My primary client needed some work done urgently so I lost most of the morning.

I'm currently working on the Registration form and shall have this ready soon.

Once that's done I'll get the Conquest details online and make the announcement also.
