Repair Points, Running Repairs and Plot Points

Repair Points

Naval bases and neutral repair docks have the facility to repair starships. The amount of repair points each has is yet to be determined. This will likely take the form of a tech level or capacity level.

Running Repairs

Points for Running Repairs can be earnt by players that post Battle Reports to the Cavaliers website. These are repairs that are performed on ship from supplies scrounged from other locations of the ship or fleet.

The minimum you can earn is 2 points. There shall be a 5-Star voting system available that the players can use to vote for how good a Battle Report is. This vote shall be available to the players only and shall be an honesty based system. Before the next game session the values of these votes shall be added to the base 2 points. This is how much each player shall have for the Fleet in the Battle Report.

Plot Points

Plot Points are for a more cinematic play style. They represent the exceptional skill and dumb luck of the Scottys and Starbucks of the game universe.

Plot Points can be spent on almost anything.

  • A lucky shot took out all the fire controls during the first round of threshold checks and all weapons are functional; spend a Plot Point to make one of the die rolls automatically fail allowing you to keep that last fire control.
  • That last shot will cause enough damage to take out your Battle Cruiser; spend a point to make it a miss.

Basically, a Plot Point can be spent to counter a roll. You roll to hit in groups; Torps, all lasers, missiles, individual systems, etc. Each roll can be canceled. You can't role to hit, take the damage, roll and have your plasma torps blown away and play a Plot Point to cancel the to-hit roll. At that point the best you can do is cancel the last threshold roll.

Plot Points are gained in 2 ways;
The first is through the Battle Reports. If you add flavour text to a Battle Report that tracks the exploits of an individual, should they survive or not, a Plot Point may be given. This Plot Point is applied to the ship the individual was on or should the ship have not survived the Plot Point is applied to the largest ship in the fleet. This Plot Point may be spent on any ship in a Fleet that this ship is part of.

The second method, and least desirable, is to write up a Battle Report for a battle where your Fleet(s) were wiped out. This is an automatic Plot Point applied to the Player and may be spent anywhere.
