Full Thrust Lite

Last night Chris introduced me to Full Thrust which is a starship combat game. People may have seen Chris playing it before. He's done a pretty good job modding some of the ships with LEDs where the thrusters would be. They look pretty cool.

The rules for Full Thrust Lite, which we played, are simple and fast. They're also available for download from Ground Zero Games as are the rules for the full version of Full Thrust II, More Thrust, Fleet Book 1, Fleet Book 2 and most of the other games they provide.

The game plays quick enough that we managed to get in 3 games in the evening. I really should have saved the turn sheets as they pretty much record how things went down. From memory though things worked out this way;

I won the first game reasonably decisively.

The second game was a draw with Chris having one surviving, although seriously crippled, ship escaping the table before I could destroy it.

The final game saw me crushed to the point of only being useful as a Space Hulk.

Full Thrust is a generic set of rules. There is no set background that the game is based around. The full game comes with a campaign system and ship design rules as well as all the usual guff you'd expect in a rule book for starship combat.

From what I've seen the campaign system is more based around having a starting fleet, a series of engagements with repair and restock of existing ships. There's no facility in the initial campaign system to allow for ship construction or resource management in-game. A turn in the initial campaign system is a week and the repair/restock system seems quite easy to manage. It's an attrition game where the final battles are fought between crippled Battleships with a couple of "1 Lasers", dodgy thrusters and one remaining fire control system still working.

I'm interested in giving this a go if anyone else is. I'm also interested in working on a larger scale campaign system with resource management and ship construction in-game if anyone else is also interested in this.

In summary; I had fun. Want to play more. :)

If ya want to have a go...

If anybody wants to have a go themselves, just flag me down at Cavaliers sometime and i'll be more than willing to give you a game.

As Gold has said, its a very fast flowing game that is easy to pick up so the more the merrier :D

I am also interested in running a campagin sometime so when we get a few more players I will organise something
